Nigeria’s fastest man, Seye Ogunlewe has been named as one of 65 athletes listed by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) to execute the 2015 All-Africa Games billed to hold in Congo Brazzaville in September.
The sprinter stunned the more experienced pair of Ogho-Oghene Egwero and Obinna Metu to win the men’s 100m with a time of 10.19s, equaling his Personal Best (PB) set in Loughborough in July. He will be joined by 34 female athletes and 31 of their male counterparts in Brazzaville.
This will be the first time Ogunlewe will be competing at the All-Africa Games, having represented Nigeria in the 4x100m relays at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. It will also be the first time the bulk of the team will be participating at the quadrennial championship. About 14 coaches are also expected to travel with the team.
