8) Olumide Olamigoke
You might call him a breakout athlete, because Olamigoke has certainly not had a bad season. He was given a wild card to the World Championships, but didn’t eventually make the Nigerian team. The mere recognition by the IAAF shows that he is a budding talent and one to watch out for in future.
Olamigoke finished 2nd behind Tosin Oke at the National Championships in Warri, leaping to a mark of 16.80m. Not going to the Beijing must have hurt him, but he put that disappointment behind to leap to Silver in Brazzaville behind Oke with a mark of 16.98m, a new PB and one that qualifies him for Rio Olympics. He joked afterwards that Oke defeated him by just 2cm, and that he would have loved to get one over him.
Ranked 24th in the IAAF 2015 Top list, he is ranked 8th by us. Who knows, perhaps Nigeria has already found a successor to Oke.
My guess is the list should include
Regina George
Tosin Oke
Samson Idiata
Chinazom Amadi
Oluwatobilola Amusan
Hope I’m right.
Well Mike you are close. Watch out for part 2 of the story to see if your picks made the final cut.
