Last week, we started a series on Nigeria’s top 12 athletes in 2015. We will conclude with Part 2 as we analyse the Key Performance Index (KPI) that placed these talented athletes at the top of our ratings. We hereby present Nos. 6 to 1 of our Top 12 Nigerian Athletes in 2015!
6) Oluwatobiloba Amusan:
It’s always good to see a Nigerian based athlete do well, especially when they go out to compete in international championships. Amusan this year clinched two continental GOLDS, in both junior and senior categories.
At the African Junior Championships in Addis Ababa, Amusan won the women’s 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.26s. However, it is her impressive showing in Brazzaville that caught the eye. It was totally unexpected although she had shown glimpses winning her heat, but then she stormed to victory in the final in a time of 13.11s, which happened to be a new Personal Best (PB) for the hurdler.
It might still be a tall order, but she looks likely to follow in the steps of our Top Sprinter judge, Glory Alozie, whose time of 12.44s still stands as the National and African record.
