Usain Bolt is the undisputed World Record holder in the 100m! However, if only to further stoke the rivalry between the Jamaican and his fierce opponent Justin Gatlin, it would appear that the American has actually run faster after posting a wind aided 9.45s in Japan.

In the video above, Gatlin with the assistance of wind machines, blazed through the track in blistering pace to run that time in an exhibition in Japan. Interestingly, Gatlin appeared on the Japanese television show ‘Kasupe!’ in 2011, and the programme was aired on November 1 of that year.
The 2015 100m World Silver medallist was reportedly paid $25,000 for a deal to appear on the programme in the Asian country. Somehow the video resurfaced on the Internet last weekend, almost five years after it was first shown, as some even misconstrued the event to have happened recently.
It must be said that clocking a scorching time of 9.45s in 2011 despite it being wind aided is an impressive feat, considering that the American only returned to action in August 2010 after observing a four-year ban from the sport. The 34-year old wasn’t even at his best then, ending 2011 with a Season’s Best (SB) of 9.95s. He has since posted a Personal Best (PB) of 9.74s set in 2015.
One can only imagine what time Justin Gatlin would have clocked if the exhibition had taken place last year – a sub 9s maybe?
