Former Commonwealth Games Champion Tosin Oke finished 2nd behind USA’s Chris Carter at the IAAF World Challenge in Hengelo, jumping to a Season’s Best (SB) of 16.87m on Sunday, May 22.
The American won the event with his mark of 17.12m, while Nelson Evora of Portugal finished 3rd with 16.72m.
Four days before, the Nigerian had also competed in the IAAF World Challenge in Beijing where he finished 5th in 16.65m behind World Leader Bin Dong (17.24m), Shuo Cao (16.98m), Alexis Copello (16.93m) and Carter (16.87m).
Oke’s mark in Hengelos is an improvement on his former SB of 16.73m set at the Doha Diamond League earlier in the month when he placed 5th in a field that had World Champion Christian Taylor in action.
The Nigerian champion is certainly looking forward to going above 17m ahead of the Rio Olympics, which will most likely be his last outing at the Games.
