10. CONSESLUS KIPRUTO
Only few athletes have been as consistent as Kenyan 3000m Steeplechase specialist, Conseslus Kipruto in the Diamond League this year.
The Diamond Race leader has enjoyed an undefeated Diamond League season in 2016, with his latest victory being in Monaco, where he recorded his fifth straight Diamond League win with a time of 8:08.12.
Although he was handed his first defeat this year by Alex Kibet at the Kenyan Championships, one cannot rule him out as a favourite when he lines up on the track, chasing his first global win at senior level.
His biggest competitor will be in Olympic Champion and teammate, Ezekiel Kemboi who hasn’t finished outside the medal zone in a major competition since the Olympic Games in Beijing. The duo have SBs of 8:00.12 and 8: 14.19 respectively, with Kipruto having the edge as the World Leader.
When the pair lines up on the track for the finals of the event, the fans at the stadium will surely be expecting a Kenyan 1-2-3. But the question is who’s going to inspire the lead when they cross the finish line?
