With just one day left for Rio 2016 Olympics to come to an end, Team Nigeria competed in just one sporting event on Day 15 of the Games.

Having waited for a long time to somehow win a medal of any colour, Dream Team VI eventually bailed out Nigeria as they defeated Honduras to win their third match playoff on Saturday.

Meanwhile, it was curtains in Athletics, and sadly no Nigerian team or athlete was competing either in the 4x400m relay or any individual event, as it was confirmed on Friday that the country will finish the competition without a medal in Track and Field.

Hopefully the remaining Nigerian Wrestlers competing on Sunday can add to the paltry Bronze won by the Dream Team, when they take to the mat for their bouts.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
