The first leg of the Diamond League final took place in Weltklasse Zürich, with the first 16 of 32 Diamond Race Champions being crowned in the Swiss city and each winner going home with $40,000.
However, with just one more city to play, the tension is soaking up on our league table, with our table toppers either fighting hard to take the lead position, or those below aiming to maintain their current position in order to avoid being relegated down the table due to loss of points.
In Paris, we saw a surprise league leader in Deji Aliu, who climbed to the top of the table for the first time this season, ahead of ever dominant R Sigma. Interestingly, it’s a different story in Zurich, as R Sigma has found his rhythm by taking back the top position.
On that note, here is the Day 13 Result for our #DiamondRaceContest in the MoC league.
As said earlier, R Sigma seems not interested in letting his lead position go without giving a fight, as his Team Captain, Ruth Jebet did the magic for him this time around in Zurich.
Jebet, who in Paris set a World Record (WR) in the women’s Steeplechase, followed her record breaking form with another Meet Record (MR). R Sigma also had six other winners including Christian Taylor who also set an MR, one second and third place finishers, with all accumulating 2205 points in total.
Aliu missed Jebet as his captain, instead opted for Caster Semenya, who although won her race, didn’t set an MR. But he’ll take solace in having all his other picks as winners, including Jebet and Taylor, thereby having a total of 2204 points.
Abdulrahman Afeez is definitely the underdog on our league table, maintaining his 3rd position from Paris with a total of 2170 points, which is not too far away from our table toppers.
With one city left to play, and just one point separating R Sigma and Aliu; while Afeez can’t be left out in taking the top position as well, one can only ask the question ‘’ Who will be crowned the 2016 Fantasy Diamond Race MoC League Champion?’’ only time will tell.
However on the world league table, LuizzCarlos maintained his world lead position amassing a total of 2278 points, while our league leader R Sigma is now 26th, and Deji Aliu 28th in the world.
