Team Nigeria continued its impressive showing at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, and after Day 3, they added one Gold and one Silver to bring their overall medal tally to four, which incidentally have been won in just two days.
Three athletes represented Nigeria on Saturday, two participating in the Powerlifting and one competing in the Table Tennis Singles events.
Esther Onyema led the pace for what was to come, further underlining Nigeria’s dominance in the Powerlifting event, narrowly missing out on winning GOLD in the women’s -55kg category as she settled for Silver.
Meanwhile in the women’s Table Tennis quarterfinal Singles, Faith Chinenye Obiora struggled to match up her Chinese opponent who defeated her 3-0 to go through to the semis.
Paul Kehinde’s -65kg event was rescheduled, however the wait was worth it as he broke the World Record to win Nigeria’s second GOLD of the Paralympics, ending what was indeed a perfect Saturday for Team Nigeria.
