Unlike in the game against Cameroon when Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr instantly said Ifeanyi Ubah FC goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was going to be in goal, against Zambia the coach doesn’t want to give up that information just yet.
With Dan Akpeyi making a return having suffered an injury that ruled him out in the last two games, he is set to be in contention for a place in the starting 11, and would fight for a place with Ezenwa.
Speaking on the team he would start against Zambia: “we saw it already against Cameroon, our experience players are coming back, you remember who was missing against South Africa. We had the youngest team I ever saw in Africa, 22.8 the average age,” Rohr said.
“Now we are coming with the experience of our good players, but each game is different” the German added.
“About the starting team, I have it in my heart but I have another two training sessions, which is why I have to see them again tomorrow to put the team together who will start the game.
There are indications that Ezenwa could get the nod over Akpeyi, with Rohr stating further that he will announce the team after their training on Friday.
