Nigeria’s biggest medal haul in Athletics was won at the 1990 edition of the Commonwealth Games held in Auckland, New Zealand. The team won a total of 10 medals – three GOLD, four Silver and three Bronze medals.

Yussuf Alli leapt to GOLD in the men’s Long Jump with a Games Record of 8.39m (+5.7 m/s). He inspired a 1-3 for Nigeria in the event as teammate Festus Igbinoghene claimed Bronze with 8.18m.
