Registration for the MoC Athletics Trials in Port-Harcourt (PH), Ughelli and Enugu this week is now closed! After a deluge of applications this past week, over 400 Athletes have requested to be part of the Trials which Making of Champions has launched to give Athletes a chance to train with our Olympic Medallist Coaches Deji Aliu, Glory Alozie & Uchenna Emedolu, and to be considered for the MoC Track Club!

The near 300 Participants confirmed for the PH, Ughelli & Enugu Trials are listed here! Participants for Lagos Trials in October will be contacted separately in due course. The dates and venues for the Trials in September, all taking place this week are as follows:

MoC Athletics Trials 2018 FINALS

Enugu – Saturday 29th September 2018 @ 9am

(arrival Fri 28th Sep, departure Sat 29th Sep)

After the Finals, MoC will select up to 10 Athletes to be inducted into the MoC Track Club for the 2018/9 Athletic Season(Subject to necessary background checks & consent of the Athletes themselves, their Parents/Guardians and their current Coaches)

In a new innovation, harking back to the days of the Top Sprinter Reality Show, the best Athletes at the PH, Ughelli & Enugu Trials will get “Golden Tickets” to advance to the Final Trials on Day 2 in Enugu before possible selection to the MoC Track Club!

Please do note that MoC will sponsor the transport, accommodation & feeding only to the Enugu Finals, and only for the Athletes who receive a Golden Ticket. Unfortunately due to the vast numbers, we will not be able to sponsor any Athletes to the Trials in PH, Ughelli & Enugu on the 24th, 26th & 28th respectively. That’s why we’re coming to your locales, so you don’t have to travel so far – come down and you might just get a Golden Ticket! (Athletes that receive Golden Tickets on Day 1 in Enugu will be sponsored to stay until the Finals on Day 2 in Enugu & to return home!)

As you prepare to attend one of the Trials in PH, Ughelli or Enugu this week, or Lagos Trials in October, it is important to note that MoC would never attempt to recruit any Athlete without the express consent of the Athlete themselves, their Parents or Guardians, and their current Coaches. For any Athlete attending the Trials, we would implore you to inform your Coach of your intention to participate!

All roads lead to PH, Ughelli and Enugu thi week! It promises to be the biggest Athletics Talent Search in Nigeria since Top Sprinter Genesis in 2015, which unearthed the likes of 19-year old Joy Udo-Gabriel, who’s won 6 medals for Nigeria in 2018 alone including Commonwealth 4x100m Bronze, and 20-year old Jerry Jakpa, an alum of Government College Ughelli himself, a 2018 African Championships 200m Semi-Finalist for Nigeria!

We would like to say a big thanks to all MoC Track Club & Scholarship Sponsors in 2018 for for their continued support of MoC Athletes, including Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company (SNEPCo), ARCO Group, ND Western, Niger Delta Exploration & Production (NDEP) and Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) – it’s time to find the next wave of Athletics talent that will do Nigeria proud for years to come!
