Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor will be making her season debut at the first leg of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League in Doha.

She will compete in the women’s 200m, an event where she set the African Record of 22.04s from last season. Being one of the biggest names in the field, she’ll have her hands full with European 100m/200m Champion, Dina Asher-Smith also listed to compete. Phyllis Francis, Jeneba Tarmoh, Jamile Samuel and Kyra Jefferson would also be competing in that race.

Meanwhile, Tobi Amusan would take her hurdling skills by the horns when she matches up with Olympic Champion, Brianna McNeal who has so far this season run a Personal Best (PB) in the flat 100m. Christina Clemons and 2015 World Champion, Danielle Williams of Jamaica would be ready for an upstage.

It’s a loaded field with Sharika Nelvis and European Champion, Elvira Herman entered, while Amber Hughes who made a breakthrough at the Gamecock Invitational with a 12.85s PB is also included in the mix.

Amusan’s first race of the season was at the Drake Relays where she clocked 12.96s in rainy and windy conditions and will look forward to a better outing in Doha.
