Nigerian quartermiler Margaret Bamgbose opened her 2020 season at the American Track League Meet held in Marietta where she clocked a Season’s Best (SB) of 54.68s to finish 2nd in Heat 1, won by Aiyanna Stiverne in 53.73s.

Heat 2 was taken by Doha 2019 Mixed 4x400m GOLD Medallist Courtney Okolo in 51.52s as Jessica Beard and Chris-Ann Gordon-Powell followed in 51.71s and 52.75s respectively.

Meanwhile, at the Throws U Summer Meet 3 in Kuztown (USA), Chioma Onyekwere competed in the women’s Discus throw where she threw a mark of 59.09m. She had recorded an SB of 59.99m from the same meet a week ago.

The men’s event was taken by Samoa’s Alex Rose who reached an SB of 64.35m ahead of Sam Mattis who placed 2nd with 62.46m. Josh Syrotchen placed 3rd with 61.29m.

  1. If she and Regina George stage a powerful and speedy comeback, I am 100% sure Nigeria will reach the final in women’s 4x400m in any global athletics championship with the complement of P. George, F. Ofili, Y. Ajayi, N. Imaobong and not forgetting S. Abugan.

  2. True. If Regina George , patience george, yinka ajayi and Bamgbose team up. Am sure we will have a medal come 2021 Olympics. If all of them are in full come back
