Wesley Iwundu’s Orlando Magic team suffered a fourth consecutive defeat in the bubble, losing to Boston Celtics by three points after forcing the game to go into overtime.

Magic had not won a game in three matches, and facing Celtics was always going to be difficult after the latter pulled off a huge win last Friday, beating the defending champions Toronto Raptors. They were undoubtedly the overwhelming favourites.

However, Magic went toe to toe with Celtics, only losing the game by 3pts after both teams tied at 112-112 at the end of the 4th quarter. Celtics showed more grit in the overtime, outscoring Magic by 10-7 to eventually win the match by 122-119.

Iwundu was on the court for 25mins: 56s, improving on his points returns from their last game against Philadelphia Sixers where he made 4pts, but today making 9pts & 2reb.

For Celtics, Semi Ojeleye had played for less than 13mins but he made 3pts and it proved to be the difference in this tie, which was the margin Boston claimed the match with. Ojeleye attempted three outside shots, and converted one of them.

On the Magic side, they are missing the services of D’Tigers player Al-Farouq Aminu who has been injured since this year, and is only just recovering from a knee injury.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
