World Champion Timothy Cheruiyot won the men’s 1500m at the Stockholm Diamond League in 3:30.25, finishing for the 2nd time this season ahead of Jakob Ingebrigsten who clocked 3:30.74 while Stewart McSweyn followed in a Personal Best (PB) of 3:31.48.
It was a 1-2-3 sweep for Britain in the women’s 1500m as Laura Muir rose to the top of the Global Toplist with a very fast 3:57.86 ahead of her compatriot Laura Wightman who clocked a Season’s Best (SB) of 4:01.62.
Melissa Courtney-Bryant mounted a big Personal Best (PB) of 4:01.81 in 3rd place while Winny Chebet followed in 4:02.58 (SB) and Jessica Hull in 4:02.65 (SB).
Donavan Brazier with a late burst in the final 100m, took the win in the men’s 800m as he ran a fast 1:43.76 ahead of Canadian Marco Arop who clocked 1:44.67.
Andreas Kramer claimed 3rd with 1:45.04, just missing his PB by a hundredth in as many outings while Kenya’s Ferguson Rotich improved his SB with a time of 1:45.11 in 4th.
Jemma Reekie won the women’s 800m in 1:59.68 ahead of Raevyn Rogers who ran an SB of 2:01.02, while 3rd place went to Hedda Hynne in 2:01.44.
Just over an hour after he clocked the 2nd fastest 400m Hurdles time in history, Karsten Warholm powered round the track to an SB of 45.05s to win the men’s 400m ahead of Luka Janezic who ran an equal SB of 45.85s. Jochem Dobber followed in 46.23s.
Wadeline Jonathas easily topped the women’s 400m in 51.94s ahead of Briton Laviai Nielsen who clocked an SB of 52.16s. Lieke Klaver finished 3rd in 52.35s.
Swiss Ajla Del Ponte secured a 2nd Diamond League win on the trot as she clocked 11.20s (+1.3m/s) in the women’s 100m ahead of Marije van Hunenstijn who ran 11.28s (SB).
Marie-Josée Ta Lou in her 2nd race of the season, placed 3rd in an SB of 11.32s , just edging out Germans Rebekka Haase and Gina Luckenkemper who were awarded 4th and 5th respectively in 11.32s and 11.33s.
