Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has named 25 players ahead of next month’s double friendly matches against the Elephant of Cote d’Ivoire and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in Austria, handing first-time call ups to CSKA Moscow’s Chidera Ejuke and TSV Hartberg’s Samson Tijani.

Ejuke, an explosive winger, has hit the ground running with CSKA Moscow since moving for Dutch Club SC Heerenveen, while Tijani, the former under-17 captain, gets a maiden call up into the side.

In the defense, recently acquired left back of FC Porto, Zaidu Sanusi gets a call-up into the side and is expected to provide competition for Jamilu Collins in that position. Goal-Keeper, Mathew Yakubu gets a maiden call-up into the side.

Vitoria Guimaraes’ midfielder, Mikel Agu returns to the side having last played for the team against Cameroon during the qualifiers for the World Cup in 2018.

Ahmed Musa, captain of the side will lead the attack, despite not getting regular playing time with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, while Cyril Dessers will have the chance to make his debut for the Super Eagles.

The warm-up game against Cote D’Ivoire will take place on October 9th in Austria, with the three-time AFCON champions playing Tunisia four days later in the same venue.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are at the top of the standings in Group L of the AFCON 2022 qualifiers with the team set to face Sierra Leone on November 9th in their next qualifiers.
