Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi was in action for Portuguese topflight side FC Porto as they beat Benfica 2-0 at the Estádio Do Dragao on Wednesday night to clinch their 22nd Portuguese Super Cup.

Sanusi was in action for the entire duration of the game in what was a keenly contested affair. Porto claimed victory courtesy of goals at each half from Sérgio Oliveira and Luis Diaz.

Sanusi was in stellar form for the most part of the match, making 4 tackles, 3 interceptions, and winning 7 of 9 total duels in which he contested.

The last time Porto were crowned champions in the competition was in 2018 when they beat Deportivo das Aves 3-1.

The trophy is the first of Sanusi’s professional career. The left-back who joined Porto last summer from fellow Portuguese side Santa Clara has had a fruitful fine season so far, scoring in the Champions League.

Sanusi has been a key cog of Porto’s defense since joining, also helping the Portuguese champions reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League where Juventus awaits.
