Masvidal appeared to be smiling and confident as the second round began but it was Usman who had the last laugh after the Nigerian nightmare landed a crushing right hand that dropped Masvidal to the canvas.
Usman had his family in the octagon with him after the fight, including his father Mohamed Usman who has been in jail since 2010 and was watching his son live for the first time.
Usman’s win/loss ratio is now at 19-1, following a fourth successful defence of his title.
