Tobi Amusan has emerged Nigerian 100m Hurdles champion for the third consecutive year with a stylish win in the final of the event at the Nigerian Championships holding in Benin, Edo State.
Returning to action on home soil for the first time since breaking the World Record last year, Amusan hardly broke a sweat to emerge champion in the event, stopping the clock at 12.70s with her closest competitor, Faith Osamuyi coming a distant 2nd in 13.90s, and Kemi Francis-Petersen 3rd in 14.14s.
This is Amusan’s fourth national title — three coming from the 100mH and one from the 4x100m Relays. She got her first title in the 100mH at the National Championships held in Yabatech in 2021. Last year, she smashed the Championship Record, clocking 12.54s to clinch her second title before adding the 4x100m title to her collection barely 48 hours later.
The superstar hurdler now has some few weeks and a couple of Diamond League races to prepare for the defence of her title at the World Championships billed for Budapest next month.
