Last weekend, African Champion, Sade Olatoye finally joined the 70m club after casting her implement to a Personal Best (PB) of 70.86m to win the women’s Hammer throw at the Oklahoma Throws Series. She became the second African after Annette Echikunwoke to throw beyond 70 meters.

Olatoye won by more than 15 metres as her next rival, Kadine Johnson of Jamaica recorded a 54.03m throw. Her teammate, Obiageri Amaechi placed 2nd in a Season’s Best (SB) of 56.76m behind Veronica Fraliey (60.66m) in the women’s Discus.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi competed at the Meeting de Madrid where he finished 3rd with a mark of 21.30m in the men’s Shotput, following Rajindra Campbell who took the win in a National Record (NR) of 22.22m.

Ese Brume was 8th in the women’s Long jump at the Monaco Diamond League with a leap of 6.67m, which was a centimetre below the distance she recorded at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial where she placed 2nd. Larissa Iapichino won the event with a PB of 6.95m.

Emmanuel Ojeli was in action at the Triveneto Meeting Internationale in Italy where he won the men’s 400m in 46.10s ahead of Wendell Miller (46.60s) and former African Champion Baboloki Thebe (46.91s).
