Dubem Amene emerged men’s 400m champion on Day 3 of the Nigerian Olympic Trials taking place in Benin, stunning a quality line-up to claim his first National title.

Amene who has a Personal Best (PB) and Season’s Best (SB) of 45.36s, which made him the second fastest in the field behind Chidi Okezie (44.97s), knew he had to give it his all to emerge victorious on the day.

He ran a good tactical race to take the win with a time of 45.44s ahead of Emmanuel Ojeli who came close to his Personal Best (PB) of 45.63s to take 2nd position in 45.69s, narrowly edging Dubem Nwachukwu who placed 3rd in an SB of 45.70s.
