Best Erhire scaled a new Personal Best (PB) of 2.25m to win his 2nd National title in the men’s High Jump on the final day of competition at the Nigerian Olympic Trials staged in Benin.

Erhire faced stiff competition from Goodluck Fiaku and Justine Jimoh who were going neck-to-neck with him until he surpassed them after the bar exceeded 2.18m.

The Texas Tech Junior’s winning jump of 2.25m is the second on the Nigerian all-time outdoor list, just behind Anthony Idiata’s National Record (NR) of 2.27m. He tried breaking the NR by scaling over a height of 2.28m but failed in all three attempts. The outright Nigerian Record in the event is 2.32m.

Fiaku recorded a PB of 2.18m to place 2nd while Justine Jimoh was 3rd in 2.15m.
