Two-time Olympian, Omotayo Olajide suffered an early exit in his Olympic campaign in the round of 64 of men’s Singles table tennis after losing 1-4 to Noshad Alamiyan of Iran at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Nigerian started the game in high spirits by winning the first set in 11-6 but the Iranian turned the tables round by dominating the next two sets in 5-11, 4-1. There was a moment of hope for Omotayo in the fourth set as he started making up for the unfortunate previous two sets but it was not enough as Alamiyan fought through to win the set in 10-12 and backed it up with 8-11 to end the game.
Omotayo matches his performance from his last Olympic outing in Tokyo.
