Nigeria’s sole representative, Anuoluwapo Opeyori fell short in his opening group game against Tobias Kuenzi of Switzerland where he lost 2-0 in the men’s Badminton Singles.

The two-time African Games Champion demonstrated commendable skill as he nearly clinched the first set, leading by three set points. However, he ultimately lost in a tie-break with a score of 22-20.

In the second set, Opeyori managed to pull up a comeback where he tied the scores at 6-6 but Kuenzi didn’t relent as he eventually took the set in 21-14 ending the game in a 2-0 victory.

Despite this setback, Opeyori will return to the court tomorrow to compete against China’s Li Shifeng.
