After their iconic triumph over Australia, D’Tigress faced a tough challenge against the host team, France, ultimately falling 75-54 in their second game at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The match started with Murjanatu Musa making the first two baskets for Nigeria, including two free throws after drawing a foul. However, France quickly responded with two buckets, taking an early lead of 5-2 and then going on a 6-0 run. By the end of the first quarter, France led 24-20, despite Nigeria’s efforts to close the gap, including a three-point shot from Ezinne Kalu.

In the second quarter, Nigeria managed to narrow France’s lead. Musa completed a three-point play and Elizabeth Balogun cut the deficit to 2 points with a floating jump shot. However, Gabby Williams responded for France, extending their lead to 6 points. At halftime, France was ahead 38-31.

The third quarter proved challenging for Nigeria, as they struggled offensively, scoring only 8 points while France’s lead grew. By the end of the third quarter, the score was France 54, Nigeria 39.

The final quarter saw Nigeria continue to struggle with their shooting and turnovers, managing just 13 points while France maintained a solid offensive performance. Ultimately, Nigeria fell to France with a final score of 75-54.

Despite a strong start and moments of competitive play, Nigeria’s high turnover rate and inconsistent shooting in the latter half of the game proved detrimental.

D’Tigress will face Canada on Sunday, aiming to bounce back with a win as they sit 2nd in their group ahead of Australia and Canada.
