African Champion Chukwuebuka Enekwechi recorded a historic 6th place finish in the men’s Shot Put final in his second consecutive Olympic Games, upgrading his 12th position from the Tokyo Games.

Enekwechi opened with a mark of 20.58m and responded with a massive 21.45m throw, which took him to 6th place, a position he held onto throughout the competition.

Ryan Crouser dominated the competition, becoming the first Shot Putter to win three consecutive Olympic titles in an enormous distance of 22.90m on his third attempt. Joe Kovacs took Silver in 22.15m while Rajindra Campbell grabbed Bronze in 22.15m based on countbacks.

This is Enekwechi’s highest placement in a major international competition.
