In the men’s 200m event at the Paris Olympics, Nigeria’s sole representative  Udodi Onwuzurike competed and advanced to the repechage round.

Onwuzurike finished 5th in his heat with a time of 20.55s. Despite a strong execution on the bend, he fell short of securing an automatic qualification spot, necessitating a return in the repechage for a chance to advance to the semi-finals.

The heat was won by Uganda’s Tarsis Orogot, who surged ahead on the homestraight with a time of 20.32s. Following closely, Wanya McCoy and Renan Correa claimed the next two automatic qualifying positions, clocking in at 20.35s and 20.41s respectively.

Onwuzurike will be relying on his potential to make a strong comeback in the repechage round tomorrow.
