Nigeria’s generational talent, Samuel Ogazi, has become the first Nigerian male quartermiler to make the 400m final at the Olympics since the great Innocent Egbunike at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Ogazi kept his composure despite competing against Michael Norman and Matthew Hudson-Smith. He ran incredibly well, nearly catching Norman in the last few metres to finish third with a huge Personal Best (PB) of 44.41s, securing the final spot among the non-automatic qualifiers.

Hudson Smith dominated the race with a time of 44.07s while Norman placed 2nd in 44.26s.
