Team Nigeria experienced mixed results on the first day of the ongoing Paris Paralympics, having competed in the Para Badminton and Para Table Tennis events.

At La Chapelle Arena Court 3, Nigeria’s Eniola Bolaji Mariam had a strong start in the Women’s Singles SL3 Group Stage, securing her first win to advance to the next stage.

She faced India’s Kaur Mandeep and dominated from the beginning, with the game ending 21-8, 21-14 in Bolaji’s favour. 

In the Men’s Singles SL4 Group Stage, Chigozie Jeremiah Nnanna also put on a great performance, defeating Germany’s Marcel Adam 2-0 (21-12, 21-15).

However, in the Men’s Doubles Para Table Tennis round of 16, Nigeria’s Kayode Alabi and Victor Farinloye faced a tough match against China’s Jiaxin Huang and Weinan Peng who won 3-0 (11-9, 11-5, and 11-8).

In the Mixed Doubles match, Great Britain’s Joshua Stacey and Bly Twomey secured a 3-1 victory over Nigeria’s Kayode Alabi and Faith Obazuaye.
