The fight for a medal extended to Day 3 for Team Nigeria at the ongoing World U20 Athletics Championships in Lima as only two representatives were in action.

Ella Onojuvwevwo who was one of the medal favourites in the women’s 400m final ran brilliantly in the first 300m but faded in the home straight, ultimately finishing 5th in 52.61s behind the winner, Lurdes Gloria Manuel (51.29s). Dianna Proctor (51.98s) and Zaya Akins (52.00s) placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Nigeria’s sole representative in the 200m, Precious Nzeakor did not progress past her heat, recording a time of 24.75s to finish 4th.
