Texas Tech’s Temitope Adeshina became the first ever Nigerian to win an NCAA Division I title in the High Jump after leaping to GOLD in her specialist event at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 15th, at the Virginia Beach Sports Centre.

The Nigerian Record holder achieved a Season’s Best (SB) of 1.94m to emerge joint winner with Georgia’s Elena Kulichenko who also cleared the bar at 1.94m. Both athletes fell short at 1.97m, while Rachel Glenn came in 3rd with 1.91m.

Adeshina is also the first Nigerian to win an NCAA title in the 2025 Athletics season.
