The Nigerian trio of Kayinsola Ajayi, Israel Okon, and Fakorede Adekalu made history by qualifying for the men’s 60m final at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia.
In the final, It was a 2-3 finish for the duo of Ajayi and Okon, who represent Auburn University, posting an identical time of 6.52s to mount the men’s 60m podium behind Jordan Anthony (6.48s). The former edged the latter by three-thousandths of a second. It’s worth noting that Ajayi equalled Deji Aliu’s long-standing record of 6.48s in the heats.
Mississippi State’s Fakorede placed 8th in 6.59s.
