The stage was set to crown the World’s fastest man in the 60m at Nanjing’s Cube Gymnasium in China, with the athletes having their eyes fixed on the podium for individual and country glory.

Fresh off his win at the European Indoor Championships, Jeremiah Azu ensured 3 for 3 as he won his heat, semifinal and final to take the 60m title in an equal Personal Best (PB) of 6.49s, becoming the first British man to win the title since Richard Kilty in 2014. Azu is the fourth British man to earn such honour.

Lachlan Kennedy made history as the first Aussie to medal in the men’s 60m at the World Indoor Championships. He was narrowly edged to a Silver medal position on the line with a PB of 6.50s.

Akani Simbine finally won his elusive individual global medal after coming short in numerous finals by claiming Bronze in 6.54s. He is the first African to step on the podium in the event since Olusoji Fasuba snatched the title in 2008.
