Not the usual teams we have witnessed from the first four Diamond League (DL) meets top our MoC Fantasy Race contest, but after Oslo new winners have emerged in what has been a very thrilling competition so far.

Since I started writing the reviews for our Fantasy League, I am just getting to know about Olarenwaju Shittu’s team and Saviour Sunday’s team who both finished 1st and 2nd respectively in our league after Oslo.

Just like in Rome, there was just one Meeting Record (MR) in Oslo, and it came from Mutaz Barshim. The Qatari’s 2.38m mark in the men’s High Jump was so good that it is a World Lead.

I know most people are still scratching their heads wondering why they didn’t pick him as their captain, which would have been an easy 60 points, but spare a thought for people like Trailblazers (this writer’s team) who didn’t even pick him in their team. Painful you know, that would have been at least fetched some assured 30 points. Hindsight!

So when you see Shittu and Sunday both top our league, then know that they must have been among the brave ones to make a go at Barshim. In fact Shittu’s team led the way, winning by 175 points, 14 more that Sunday who was 2nd with 161.

Points scored by each team from Oslo DL

Pacesetters’ team owned by Yemi Olus (an MoC staff and therefore ineligible for our prize rewards) finished 3rd with 160 points. This tentatively leaves Peter Ibironke’s team, who also got 160 points to move up to 3rd to get the prize on offer. If cleared, Ibironke’s team will be making its second appearance in our top 3 this year.

However it must be said of Team Top Sprinters that they still topped the log, despite finishing 15th with 145 points, and getting an overall tally of 727 points.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
