2018 World Cup qualifiers, Russia 2018 World Cup
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr speaking about qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr believes his team is almost through to next year’s World Cup in Russia, although he hopes to secure the ticket in Yaounde later on Monday evening.

After a convincing performance in the first leg which saw the Super Eagles win 4-0, Nigeria will go into the return leg in Yaounde knowing that they are not under pressure to beat the host team.

Nigeria top the group with 9 points and the closest to them in the group is Zambia with 4 points who face a difficult trip away to The Desert Foxes of Algeria.

Below is the exclusive interview with Rohr where he also spoke about the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
