The Super Eagles of Nigeria have missed out on the services of Tammy Abraham after the young forward was on Thursday named in the England squad for their friendly games in November.
England moved to end the speculation over Abraham’s international future, giving him a call-up for the games against Germany and Brazil, with concerns that he could switch allegiances to his father’s country.
Last month, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) announced that plans were in place to get Abraham to play for Nigeria, but the Swansea striker who is on loan from Chelsea swiftly released a statement committing his future to England.
With Nigeria securing 2018 World Cup qualification, seeing former Youth England player Alex Iwobi scoring the winning goal, and Ola Aina making his debut for the Super Eagles, it looked as if that would have swayed Abraham to make a U-turn.
However Gareth Southgate has now named Abraham in his team that was released today, and it seems now that the door has finally been shut on the 20-year ever representing Nigeria.
Abraham is in great form at the moment having scored four goals out of the entire seven goals scored by Swansea this season.
