Folashade Abugan on her way to winning the women's 400m.

The main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium was a beehive of activities on Day 2 of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) All-Comers meet as athletes warmed their way into the season ahead of the first AFN Golden League in Kaduna next week.

Former African Champion Folashade Abugan started her season on a high note as she breezed past the duo of Margaret Etim and Oluchi Offorma to win the women’s 400m final in a time of 55.66s. Abugan who is making a comeback after missing most of the 2017 season, was delighted to have won her race as she looks forward to competing for Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games next year.

Jakpa’s win wasn’t all that easy though as he had the likes of Orukpe Erayokan and Isah Salihu to contend with. However, he was able to pull through as he crossed the finish line 1st in a time of 21.28s in Final A of the men’s 200m. Erayokan (21.38) and Salihu (21.70) finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
