Nigerian Boxer Millicent Agboegbulem was in imperious form on Day 2 of the Commonwealth Games taking place in Gold Coast, Australia, as she blitzed her way past Tonga’s Salote Huni to make it into the quarterfinals.

Agboegbulem, who competed in the women’s 75kg category, won by a landslide, with the five judges scoring the fight 30-25, 30-27, 30-27, 30-26 and 30-27.

Nigeria’s men’s Table Tennis team  were afforded a day’s rest after they were given a bye into the quarterfinals and will now face the host nation, Austrialia, who defeated Sri Lanka, in their Round of 16 tie.

However, it was a day to forget for the D’Tigers – Nigeria’s men Basketball team, as they lost their first match against New Zealand 110-65.

Azouma Dike was the highest scoring player for the team as he finished with 15 points and 3 rebounds, while the Captain of the team, Ike Diogu, had total of 12 points and 7 rebounds. The team would square up against the Canadians in their second match on Saturday, April 7th.

In a similar vein, Fatima Yakubu who competed in the women’s 53kg category of the Weightlifting event, withdrew from the  Clean and Jerk category after she had failed in all three attempts in the Snatch category.
