Para Table Tennis athlete Faith Obazuaye has enjoyed an impeccable outing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, having kept a clean slate through the rounds before succumbing to a 3-1 defeat to Australia’s Melissa Tapper in the women’s TT 6-10 GOLD medal match on Saturday at the Oxenford Studios.
The Nigerian secured an emphatic 3-0 win over Australia’s Andrea McDonnell in her first game, and dismissed India’s Vaishnavi Sutar by the same score in her second match. She sent off Canada’s Stephanie Chan in her third game with a 3-0 victory, and defeated England’s Felicity Pickard 3-0 in her semifinal game.
Meanwhile top seed in the men’s Singles at the ongoing games, Aruna Quadri, will face Singapore’s Ning Gao in the Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match on Sunday. The Nigerian defeated India’s Sharath Achanta 4-0 (12-10, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7) on Saturday, and will fight for GOLD at 3.20am Nigerian time.
