Nigeria’s Divine Oduduru took his recent performances a notch higher on Saturday, beating the field to win the 60m title for the first time ever at the Big 12 Championships in Lubbock, Texas.
Not only did Oduduru win with a new Personal Best (PB) of 6.52s, he also ran a new School Record for Texas Tech, where the Nigerian is currently studying. In the race, Oduduru’s school mate, Andrew Hudson finished 2nd in 6.57s with Maxwell Willis coming in 3rd in 6.64s.

Earlier this month, Oduduru raced a then PB of 6.56s also in Lubbock, Texas, and he has been improving since then.
Incidentally, that was a joint school record alongside Hudson who also clocked 6.56s in January this year.
Now Oduduru holds his school’s 60m record and also the 200m record of 20.18s which he ran a year ago at the Texas Tech Open Championships.
On Friday, Deji Aliu celebrated the 20th anniversary of the 60m National Record of 6.48s which he ran in Leivin, France. There’s no doubt that Oduduru will have his sights set on that record, seeing that he is getting closer to the mark by the day.
