After beating the Seychelles National team in their final African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying game, the Super Eagles will begin preparations for the 2019 showpiece when they square up against the Egyptian National team in a friendly game.

The match which is billed for the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba, will provide Gernot Rohr the opportunity to blood some of the players who didn’t get enough playing time during the qualifying campaign.

Top of the list of players who would most likely be given playing time are likes of John Ogu, Paul Onuachu and Semi Ajayi. Also, Rohr has confirmed that both Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa will both play in each of the half of the game.

For the Egyptian’s, the team who are host of the 2019 AFCON are coming into this game off the back of a 1-1 draw against Egypt in Naimey, and would be hoping to continue their impressive record against Nigeria, having not lost to the West African Nation since 1990.

Head coach of the side Javier Aguirre dropped the country’s biggest star Mohamed Salah from the game who will also be missing in action against the Super Eagles on Tuesday.

The last time Egypt faced Nigeria away from home was in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The Pharaohs managed to secure a last-gasp draw following a Mohamed Salah strike to go on and beat Nigeria 1-0 in Alexandria and qualify to the AFCON for the first time since 2010.
