In the men’s 1500m at the Monaco Diamond League, World Champion, Timothy Cheruiyot in his first race over his specialist distance this season, clocked a very fast 3:28.41 to take the win, just four hundredths of a second off his Personal Best (PB) from two years ago to prevail over a brilliant Jakob Ingebrigsten who stormed to a big PB and European Record of 3:28.68 to finish 2nd.
Ingebrigsten broke the Area Record held by Mo Farah at 3:28.81, while also moving to 8th on the all-time list, just behind Cheruiyot.
Jake Wightman also ran a powerful race for 3rd place, coming through in a massive PB of 3:29.47, the 2nd fastest time ever run by a Briton. Behind them, Filip Ingebrigsten placed 4th in a Season’s Best (SB) of 3:30.35, while Yomif Kejelcha ran 3:32.69 in 5th.
