Bayelsa State athlete Tima Godbless is on a roll! The sprinter carted away two GOLD medals on Day 5 of Athletics at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Delta State, taking her tally of GOLD medals to three at Asaba 2022.
Having already won the 100m title a couple of days ago, Godbless followed in the steps of 2021 NSF double champion Grace Nwokocha as she stormed to a new Personal Best (PB) of 23.07s (if ratified) to claim the sprint double. Faith Okwose took Silver in 23.62s as Adetutu Aladeloye settled for Bronze after clocking 23.66s.
Godbless’ second GOLD medal of the day came in the mixed 4x100m where she anchored Bayelsa State to GOLD, applying a strong finish to blaze her team to a comfortable victory, clocking a time of 41.98s. Rivers and Edo states won Silver and Bronze respectively in 42.46s and 42.77s.
Ondo State athlete Musibau Adebisi who made a statement in the heats, maintained his unbeaten run in the men’s 200m and came through to win the NSF title in a time of 20.88s. Emmanuel Ojeli (Rivers) clocked 21.09s to win the Silver while Sunday Akintan got the Bronze in 21.15s.
Team Delta state had a strong quartet in the mixed 4x400m relay, coming off with the GOLD medal ahead of Rivers and Oyo States respectively. Delta moved the baton round in a time of 3:20.90. Rivers State placed 2nd with 3:23.63 and Oyo State 3rd in 3:24.04.
