In fine form at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, Rosemary Chukwuma competed in the women’s 100m semifinals, running in the second heat where she powered to a Season’s Best (SB) of 11.01s for a clean win in almost still conditions with the wind reading at 0.1m/s.
Not only was it her best time of the season, she also punched her ticket to the World Championships whilst beating Kaila Jackson who ran 11.08s for 2nd and McKenzie Long in 11.13s.
Chukwuma who had the second fastest time across all heats and just behind Julien Alfred’s 10.99s, will now turn her focus to the final where she could very well become the first Nigerian woman since Blessing Okagbare to win an NCAA 100m title.
