Tobi Amusan will have the chance to defend her World Championship title after securing qualification to the women’s 100m Hurdles final at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Having started off her campaign nicely with an impressive 12.48 win in the heats on Tuesday, she yet did well to secure a berth in the final on Wednesday night, despite a relatively slow start to her race in the semis.
Amusan clocked 12.56s to win the semi-final 2, just edging Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent (12.60s) who finished in 2nd place.
The 25-year-old will be making her 3rd World Championship final appearance but, of course, for the first time a defending champion.
She will square up to familiar rivals including Keni Harrison, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Nia Ali and Danielle Williams in the final on Thursday night at 8:22pm (Nigerian time).
