Favour Ofili made her debut at the Adidas City Games in Atlanta on Saturday, 18th May, where she broke the 150m African Record in her first time over the event with a time of 16.30s.

Ofili, who was part of the Nigerian 4x100m quartet that sealed their Olympic slot at the World Relays a fortnight ago, was narrowly edged out by her training partner Candace Hill by six-thousandths of a second after they both broke the tape in an identical 16.30s. Daryll Neita claimed 4th in 16.44s.

Ofili’s time of 16.30s ranks her joint second with Hill and the late Tori Bowie on the all time list. Shaunae Miller-Uibo owns the World Record (WR) in 16.23s set in 2018.

In the men’s 100m, Udodi Onwuzurike started his 100m campaign with a Season’s Best (SB) of 10.12s to take 4th place. Akani Simbine roared to a World Lead (WL) of 9.90s to finish ahead of Ferdinand Omanyala (10.00s) and Kendal Williams (10.05s).
