The final list of athletes selected to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming African Junior Championships holding in Addis Ababa, has been released, and current African Youth and Junior Champion in the 200m, Divine Oduduru is one of the key athletes that will spearhead the country’s quest for medals in Ethiopia.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), selected 33 athletes for the competition, following the final Trials held at the Gateway Stadium in Sagamu, Ogun State on Thursday.

The selected athletes, comprising of 18 women and 15 men, have been camped in Sagamu for the past two weeks, and are expected to leave the country for the Ethiopian capital on Tuesday (March 3), ahead of the competition slated to hold from March 4 to 8.

Joining Oduduru in the pursuit for glory is reigning National, African and Commonwealth Long Jump Champion, Ese Brume, who will be aiming to defend the title she won in Mauritius two years ago.

Technical Director of the AFN, Navy Commodore Omatseye Nesiama stated that the athletes were picked based on their performance in camp. He also revealed that Oduduru, a Silver Medallist at last year’s IAAF World Junior Championships, and Brume would serve as Team Captains for the competition.
