Israel Okon is making a name for himself on the track, and his performance at the SEC Indoor Championships proved just that, clocking 6.55s in the men’s 60m final to clinch the Silver medal.
Jordan Anthony (Arkansas) took GOLD with a 6.53s run, while Akeem Fahmi (Auburn) ran a Personal Best of 6.56s to claim a Bronze medal just ahead of Fakorede Adekalu, who clocked an identical time. Defending Champion Kayinsola Ajayi false started.

Okon had dominated his semifinal heat, running 6.51s to leave the competition behind on Day 2 of the meet to tie with Ajayi’s School Record. The time also stands as the Nigerian, African, and NCAA lead as well as the Facility Record of the meet. Okon’s performance also places him fourth on Nigeria’s all-time list, alongside Davidson Ezinwa and Favour Ashe.
