Success Umukoro and Adaobi Tabugbo were just two of the Nigerian athletes in action at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Texas, both copping Silver medals in their events.
Tabugbo was the first to compete, representing the University of Central Florida (UCF) in the women’s 60m hurdles. She set a new Personal Best (PB) of 7.99s, finally breaking the 8-second barrier after multiple close attempts. Texas Tech’s Naomi Krebs claimed victory with a PB of 7.96s.
About 20 minutes later, Umukoro lined up for the women’s 60m final, where she clocked 7.19s to finish a close second—just 0.01s behind Indya Mayberry, who won in 7.18s.
